Venue at The Island Re-launch
September sees The Venue nightclub returning to The Island. Following a successful Spring season while we bedded in a new team, found our feet and had to throw away a lot of out of date drinks stock (😫) following a nearly two year Covid closure, we are now formally re-launching. Our Venue Managers Clara McDermott and Andreaa Ivanescu have worked hard to get our systems up and running following the departure of our brilliant former manager Lucie Ackerman who moved to Cornwall in 2021.
As luck would have it we’ve compiled an almost all female crew working at The Venue as well as our other Artspace Lifespace projects. Fresh from Dj’ing at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Clara says she’s ‘blessed to work with such a solid crew of amazing women who run numerous venues in Bristol at such a high standard whilst creating the healthiest and friendliest work environment that I’ve ever been involved in.’ We’re keen to continue improving our methods, working towards providing a fun and safe environment for people to enjoy themselves.
Following a summer break which included trips to various festivals and celebrations across Europe the new team are looking forward to re-opening as a fully-licensed venue for the first time since 2015 and plan to introduce some different promoters to The Island audience with a view to increasing the range of music and people to the building. One of Andreea’s favourite nights from Spring 2022 was the Duckland x Queerhaus night (featured in these photographs) as their energy and vision brought a completely different air into the space. We’re looking forward to welcoming them back in October. The September season kicks off with weighty dubstep celebrations for Deep Tempo’s 3rd Birthday weekender on Saturday the 3rd.
Keep up to date with the Venue clubnights at @theisland_venue and Headfirst listings. Expect big line-up announcements, some fresh new Bristol talent and a new selection of craft beers. All profits from our clubnights go towards the charitable work of Artspace Lifespace, supporting us to continue providing accessible creative spaces for Bristol artists.
